Collect as much information as possible about the goods you intend to import, about similar goods or other similar products. Obtain descriptive documentation, product ingredient information and, whenever possible, even product samples. This information will be very useful and important when in the process of determining and classifying tariffs, which will be used to determine the tax rate for your goods.
Dương Minh thinks:
Find products you like – that make you passionate about your work
Look for unique products – that you can sell at a high price
3. Make sure the goods you want to import are allowed in your country.
Some goods are not allowed to be imported into the country such as banned substances or inappropriate products on the prohibited list. Different countries have different banned products. In addition, please ensure that the goods you intend to import from China to Vietnam must comply with the law and have a license to use that product.
For Dương Minh Logistics - The responsibility of a professional importer is to ensure that the goods comply with state regulations and bring benefits to import customers.
Importing unsafe goods that do not meet the requirements will be extremely dangerous. Violations will cost you a lot of fines and liability and may reduce your reputation. At the very least, such goods will be detained and possibly destroyed.
4. Classify goods and calculate shipping costs.
Pay special attention to the type of import, and calculate the total shipping costs for that quantity of products before making an import decision. For example, with the FOB type you can simply understand as follows:
- Get product price from supplier
- Added shipping costs from Chinese freight forwarders (Dương Minh Logisitcs)
- Costs for customs procedures at the border gate and paying taxes, transporting goods to your warehouse in Vietnam
5. Find a reputable import service provider to entrust them with difficult responsibilities.
After selecting and placing an order with the supplier, the shipper or exporter will deliver the goods to you. Once you have chosen the product from your supplier, ask them to present the goods documents such as invoice, purchase contract, parking list, CO, ... and provide it to the import service unit for you!
Attention:
1. Ask the supplier to agree to ship under FOB terms to their nearest seaport or airport because this will significantly reduce your shipping costs as well as ease control during the process of importing your goods from China.
For example, if you need to import products, raw materials, etc. from China and the nearest port to the supplier is located in Shanghai, you would request that: “FOB Shanghai”.
